Stand at the bottom of the stairs.
Hop around using your walking aid so that your back is to the stairs.
Reach backwards with your hand for the rail and a step.
With your weight on your unaffected leg slowly lower yourself down until you are able to sit on a step.
Place both of your hands behind you onto the step above.
Place your unaffected foot on the step below you.
Push with your arms and your leg to lift your bottom up onto the next step.
Repeat this pattern until you reach the top.
Once you are at the top, if you are able to, use the rail to pull up to standing.
If this is too difficult you may need to place a chair at the top of the stairs to lift onto.
