Bilateral isometric hip abduction in standing

Bilateral isometric hip abduction in standing

Stand up straight with your feet a hip-width apart, or slightly wider.
Soften your knees and place your hand on your hips.
Make sure the surface you are standing on is not slippery underfoot.
Push your feet towards the floor and out to the side as if trying to slide them apart.
Note that you should feel your hip muscles contracting but no actual movement should occur.
Hold the tension for a moment and then relax.
