Sit upright on a stable chair, or wheelchair, with your back supported and a table close in front.
Ensure both feet are flat.
Have some pillows on your lap and on the table.
Bring your elbow towards your body and then gently take your arm forwards to place it on raised pillows.
Ensure your hand is above your elbow, with your wrist straight.
Place the fingers around the end of a folded hand towel and position the thumb out to the side.
Using your unaffected hand stroke along the length of your arm.
Start midway down the forearm, applying a gentle movement towards the elbow crease.
Progress by moving the starting position towards the hand.
If you have delicate skin, use cream to avoid aggravation.
