Assisted Lying to Sit Bedside

Moving from lying to sitting with help.
1. Bend both knees. Position the weak arm across the belly.
2. Turn over on to the weak side. Move the feet over the edge of the bed. Place the strong side's hand on the bed edge to push up.
3. Help the patient to sit up. Remember that the patient should do as much as possible for himself or herself.
4. Sit with your feet firmly on the floor. Make sure the weak side's arm does not end up in a compromising position.
